Funding available for local artists from the Minnesota State Arts Board
The Minnesota State Arts Board and the Lake Region Arts Council are inviting local artists to an informational session on August 9, from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Lake Region Arts Council offices at 133 S. Mill St., Fergus Falls, MN. Individual Artist grants that will be featured are the Cultural Community Partnership (grant range: $1,000 - $5,000) and Artist Initiative (grant range: $2,000 - $6,000).
This is a great way to fund your art projects and get familiar with writing essays for grants. I have received 2 small artists grants ($500.00 each) and it can make a difference between low budget and finer quality materials. In addition, I live in Douglas County, but I won a grant for Grant county because no one from Grant County applied for one that year.
In addition to the grants, it is important to register with your regional arts council. I was able to locate artists for my new art gallery through the name lists. For information about my gallery, go to www.rubyhillgallery.com .
